Which Wednesday applies to you?
For most people whose Social Security benefits began after April 1997, SSA uses the beneficiary’s day of birth: the second Wednesday for birthdays from the 1st through the 10th, the third Wednesday for the 11th through the 20th, and the fourth Wednesday for the 21st through the 31st.
The general birthday schedule does not apply to every recipient. SSA’s calendar separately identifies people who receive both SSI and Social Security and beneficiaries who started receiving Social Security before May 1997. Why are there two SSI deposits in July?
SSI is normally due on the first of the month. Because August 1, 2026 is a Saturday, SSA’s calendar places the August payment on Friday, July 31. That creates two SSI deposits during July but no separate SSI payment during August.
Budget note: Treat the July 31 deposit as August income. It is not a bonus, stimulus payment, or increase in the annual SSI total.
