Fact-Checking Policy

Last updated: June 2026

Accuracy is the foundation of everything we publish. Here is how we fact-check.

Primary sources first

We verify eligibility rules, income limits, benefit amounts, and deadlines against official government sources — agency websites (.gov), the Federal Register, IRS publications, CMS, USDA FNS, HHS, and SSA — and reputable institutions.

Dated and current

Programs change often. Each article shows when it was last updated, and we revise figures when new guidelines are released.

Review before publishing

A human editor reviews each guide, checks the numbers against the cited sources, and confirms links point to official information.
